The Official Blog of the Thalesians

Those of you who were visiting our website (http://www.thalesians.com/), coming to our seminars in Canary Wharf, and following our activities, will remember that we, the Thalesians, are committed to innovation in quantitative and computational finance. We strive to stay at the forefront by being the first to learn about new empirical findings, economic insights, mathematical methods, computational techniques, and high technologies. We study, test, and apply them in the real world.

And we always listen to those who deliver these innovations. These people are the Thalesians by definition. It is therefore important that our website serve as a forum and convergence point for the Thalesians, a place where new ideas are put forward, challenged, and discussed.

We are proud to announce the creation of the Thalesians' Blogs. Here you will see many of the people you have met at our seminars. Here you can read their thoughts as they emerge. If you agree with a particular idea, please support it. If you disagree, feel free to argue with it. Most importantly, please listen to others and contribute your own ideas. You are cordially invited to the Thalesians' Blogs.

GPUs in Finance

We, the Thalesians, are extremely excited about the GPUs in Finance Workshop that we are organising on 11th September, 2009. The subject is extremely exciting, GPUs being more than just a new technology — a new paradigm — in computational finance. The presenters need no introduction. We are honoured to have them. The venue is the excellent Department of Computing at Imperial College, one of the world’s leaders in research and technology. Finally, the format. We want this to be a hands-on workshop, enabling our delegates to contribute as well as learn.

For this very reason we — the organisers and presenters — have started this open discussion. And we welcome our delegates to contribute to it. Please get in touch with paul, who is now at thalesians dot com (sorry for writing this in this cryptic way, but none of us likes spam) if you would like to contribute to this blog.

The Workshop is now less than a month away, so we all look forward to seeing you at Imperial College in September!
